EXEMPTION GRANTED FOR EXTENSION OF SPECIAL CERTIFICATES OF AIRWORTHINESS FOR EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT

The Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration (LTSA) has set an exception for the Transport Competence Agency (TKA) regarding the extension of the validity period of special airworthiness certificates for experimental category aircraft. The exception provides for the steps of the procedures when, under quarantine conditions, TKA specialists do not have the opportunity to inspect the aircraft live.

TKA, upon receipt of an application for renewal of an aircraft’s Special Certificate of Airworthiness (STSP), will be able to extend it for 6 months after conducting a comprehensive documented review of the aircraft’s airworthiness.

The application and additional documents, including copies of the aircraft logbook and form sheets, must be submitted to TKA e-mail. by mail [email protected] or sent by mail to the address Rodūnios kelias 2, LT-02188 Vilnius. If possible, the original STSP should also be presented to the TKA.

The aircraft logbook must contain a record that a licensed maintenance technician with a part-66 or national license has performed a physical inspection of the aircraft, assessing that:

  • all required aircraft markings and markings, including registration marks, are in their correct locations;
  • the aircraft complies with the requirements of the aircraft flight manual;
  • the condition of the aircraft, including its systems, is in accordance with the approved aircraft documents;
  • the aircraft, including its systems, has no obvious malfunctions or damage threatening flight safety and is serviceable.

Details of the exemption announced by the LTSA can be found here . This exemption is also available to owners of ultralight aircraft, but does not apply to newly registered experimental aircraft.

If you have any questions, please contact the head of TKA’s aircraft department, Vidmantas Plėta, by phone +370 686 78450 or by e-mail. by mail  [email protected]
