AN EXCEPTION TO PBN RIGHTS FOR IR-RATED PILOTS IS BEING ANNOUNCED

The Transport Competence Agency (TKA), following the recommendation of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA),  has announced an exemption for pilots with an instrument rating (IR) qualification.

Due to the spread of the COVID-19 infection and the quarantine conditions introduced in many countries around the world, by 2021 April 25 extending the period during which pilots will not be required to undergo performance -based navigation (PBN) training when renewing their IR qualification .

Until this date, IR-rated pilots without PBN privileges can only fly routes and conduct only those approaches that do not require PBN privileges.

From 2021 April 25 PBN entitlements will be required before each IR qualification is granted or renewed.

The exception entered into force in 2020. May 6 after publishing the order of the director of the TKA .
