EASA GUIDANCE: WHAT TO DO FOR PILOTS AND CREW AFTER RECEIVING THE COVID-19 VACCINE

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published a special information bulletin >> which provides recommendations on how aircraft pilots and crew members should proceed after receiving a dose of the vaccine against COVID-19.

EASA recommends:

  • Provide aircrew members with the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as such opportunity is provided by national vaccination plans.
  • Aircrew members vaccinated against COVID-19 should wait 48 hours after each dose of the vaccine before engaging in flight-related tasks.
  • In the event of side effects of the vaccine that last longer than 48 hours after vaccination, an aviation medical doctor should be consulted and the waiting period extended.

The recommendations apply to both general and commercial aviation pilots and crew members.
