REMOTE PILOT QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATES

It is recommended to familiarize yourself with: the procedure for issuing documents confirming the qualification of a remote pilot >>

Extract from AMC_GM_del STS

In the TKA online system >> a theoretical knowledge learning course is published, after passing it you can take an online exam. Its duration is 40 minutes, during which you have to answer 40 test questions. The exam will be passed if 75% of the questions are answered correctly. all questions.

The exam consists of:

  • Flight safety ;
  • Airspace restrictions ;
  • Aviation regulation ;
  • Limits of human possibilities ;
  • Operating procedures ;
  • General knowledge of UAS ;
  • Privacy and data protection ;
  • Insurance ;
  • Safety .

What should a remote pilot taking an online theory test know? >>

There is no limit to the number of times you can take the exam, but if you fail, you will have to go through the entire training course again. After successfully passing the exam, a confirmation of completion of the online training is issued, the cost of which is 10 euros. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

It allows flights in open category  A1 and A3  subcategories.

To fly in the A2 subcategory of the open category, you need:

  • with a confirmation of completion of online training (A1/A3), to independently complete practical training under the conditions of use set for subcategory A3 according to the program ;
  • pass the additional theory exam “Remote pilot’s knowledge of technical and use-related ground risk reduction methods” (30 question test) in the TKA exam class >> (exam price – 16 EUR). The exam will be passed if at least 75% of the questions are answered correctly. all questions;
  • in the TKA system >> submit an electronic request, which confirms that practical learning has been completed independently and an additional theory exam has been passed in the classroom;
  • Pay for the issuance of the A2 subcategory qualification certificate (price – 10 Eur);
  • More information about A2 subcategory theoretical and practical training  here >>

During the additional theoretical knowledge examination, the remote pilot must demonstrate that he:

  • understands the safety risks associated with flying a UAS in close proximity to bystanders or with a heavier drone;
  • able to assess the ground risks associated with the environment in which the flight takes place, as well as with flying in the vicinity of bystanders;
  • has a basic knowledge of how to plan a flight and define contingency procedures; and
  • understands how weather conditions can affect drone performance.

The in-class exam consists of the following topics:

  • Meteorology ;
  • Conducting a flight using a UAS ;
  • Technical and operational approaches to ground risk mitigation .

The legal acts prepared for this theory exam do not provide a mandatory requirement to complete theory training, so TKA, accordingly, does not require the submission of any training completion certificates. You can prepare for it yourself, for example:

  • reading instructions or booklets provided by the drone manufacturer;
  • reading related information or watching video instructional material; and
  • by getting input from others who already have experience flying drones.

Should there be a need for additional training and preparation, such training for remote pilots is currently being conducted by:

  • association “LBONA” (http://www.lbona.lt/); and
  • VGTU A. Gustaicis Aviation Institute (https://vilniustech.lt/antanogustaicio-aviacijos-institutas/608).

In order to obtain a Certificate of Theoretical Knowledge for flights under standard scenarios (STS), you need:

  • with an online training completion certificate (A1/A3), pass the additional theory exam “Remote pilot knowledge of technical and operational risk mitigation” (40 question test or 30 question test if the remote pilot already has an A2 certificate) in the TKA exam class >> (exam price – 16 Eur). The exam will be passed if at least 75% of the questions are answered correctly. all questions.
  • In the TKA system >> submit an electronic application confirming that you already have a valid certificate of completion of online training and have passed an additional theory exam in the classroom. If this application additionally confirms that independent practical training has been completed, the Theory Knowledge Certificate (STS) is issued with the A2 subcategory, i.e. A1/A3 & A2 & STS, if you have not completed such training – the A1/A3 & STS certificate is issued.
  • Pay for the issuance of the STS theory knowledge certificate (price – 10 Eur);
  • More information about STS theoretical training  here >>

The exam in the TKA class consists of the following topics:

  • Aviation rules ;
  • Limits of human possibilities ;
  • Operating procedures ;
  • Technical and use-related ground risk reduction methods ;
  • General knowledge of UAS ;
  • Meteorology ;
  • Conducting a flight using a UAS ;
  • Technical and operational risk mitigation techniques in the air .

The legal acts prepared for this theory exam do not provide a mandatory requirement to complete theory training, so TKA, accordingly, does not require the submission of any training completion certificates. You can prepare for it yourself.
